Steps to Make
  1. Preheat your oven to 350°F (175°C).
  2. Cream together softened butter and granulated sugar in a bowl until light and fluffy—about 3-5 minutes.
  3. Add eggs one at a time, mixing well after each addition.
  4. Stir in milk and vanilla extract until fully combined.
  5. Combine flour, baking powder, and salt in a separate bowl. Gradually add to the wet ingredients, stirring gently.
  6. Pour the batter into a greased heart-shaped cake pan, smoothing the top.
  7. Bake for 30-35 minutes. Test doneness by inserting a toothpick—it should come out clean.
  8. Cool the cake in the pan for about 10 minutes before transferring to a wire rack.
  9. Frost with buttercream once cooled.
